Chelsea youngster Genesis Antwi has completed a season-long loan move to French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, where he will continue his development during the 2026/27 campaign.
The 19-year-old defender leaves Stamford Bridge in search of regular first-team football after progressing through Chelsea’s academy and impressing at youth level. His switch to Strasbourg forms part of the close partnership between the two clubs, both of which are owned by BlueCo.
Capable of playing at right-back and centre-back, Antwi is regarded as one of Chelsea’s brightest defensive prospects. The England youth international has featured prominently for the club’s Under-21 side and has also trained with the senior squad.
A statement from the club today wished the Sweden youth international good luck on his loan spell.
“Antwi has been a regular for our Under-21 side in the past two seasons, and he made a pair of first team appearances in 2024/25, coming off the bench in UEFA Conference League wins against FC Copenhagen and Djurgarden at Stamford Bridge.
“Antwi, who signed a three-year contract with the Blues last September, is a Sweden Under-21 international.
“The 19-year-old will now spend the forthcoming campaign on loan in the French top flight. We look forward to monitoring Genesis’ progress and wish him the best of luck at Strasbourg.”
Strasbourg have become a key destination for Chelsea’s emerging talents in recent seasons, with the Ligue 1 club providing young players an opportunity to gain valuable experience in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Antwi will now aim to establish himself in Hugo Oliveira’s squad and gain regular minutes as Strasbourg prepare for another campaign in France’s top flight. Chelsea will closely monitor his progress throughout the season before deciding on the next step in his development.
