Omo-Agege joins NDC, eyes Senate comeback

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), days after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his intention to contest the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Omo-Agege announced in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, on Thursday.

A political group, Delta Fresh Vision (DFV), has described the resignation of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a welcome development, saying it presents an opportunity for the party to rebuild and strengthen ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said Omo-Agege’s exit would enable the APC in Delta State to heal from internal divisions, restore unity and deepen democratic participation within its ranks.

Former Special Adviser on Health to the Delta State Government (Olorogun), Prof. (Mrs) Rukevwe Ugwumba, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing alleged injustice, marginalisation and the controversial conduct of the party’s senatorial primaries in Delta State.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of APC Uwheru Ward 9 in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Prof. Ugwumba said the distribution of the “dividends of democracy” within the party had unfairly excluded loyal members and supporters who worked tirelessly to build the APC in Delta State.
