Alleged N30bn fraud:  Kaduna court denies suspect bail over multiple prosecutions

Justice R.M.Aikawa of the Federal High Court, sitting in Kaduna on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, refused to admit Bashir Ibrahim Bello to bail for facing three different prosecutions simultaneously.

Head, Media & Publicity (EFCC), Dele Oyewale, said Bello is facing trial on different financial crimes and charges, and with over 400 petitions pending against him in the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Chief Timipre Sylva, former Minister of State for Petroleum, has written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), asking the commission to give him a date for appearance. 

The former Governor of Bayelsa State, in a letter addressed to the chairman of the commission, frowned on the move by the EFCC to declare him wanted over an alleged $14.8 million fraud.

Sanwo-Olu said the budget would be anchored on four key pillars of growth — a human-centred approach, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy and effective governance — which, he noted, align with his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda and the parastatal monitoring framework.

The governor, on Tuesday, presented the proposal, christened the “Budget of Shared Prosperity”, to the House of Assembly. He explained that the 2026 expenditure was designed to widen access to opportunity, deepen social support systems, expand job creation, accelerate infrastructure delivery and push new frontiers of development.

Agunloye forged Mambilla contract in alleged $6bn fraud – Witness

The third prosecuting witness in the ongoing trial of a former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, on Monday, November 24, 2025, told Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that the contract award document for the execution of the Mambila project was forged.

Agunloye is facing trial on an amended seven-count charge, bordering on official corruption and fraudulent award of the Mambilla Power Project contract to the tune of $6 billion (Six Billion US Dollars).
