PANDEF to Navy: Apologise to Wike now

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has called on the Nigerian Navy to immediately tender an unreserved apology to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Chief Nyesom Wike, following Wednesday’s public altercation between the Minister and a junior naval officer, Lt. AM Yerima.

The National Chairman of PANDEF, Amb. Boladei Igali, who spoke on the development on Thursday, condemned the rising social media glamorization of what he described as a grossly improper conduct of a junior naval officer, said to be acting on the orders of a retired service chief.

Alleged ₦110.4bn Kogi fraud: Court adjourns trial till 2026

The trial of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, before Justice Maryanne Anineh of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, continued on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, with the defence counsel cross-examining the sixth prosecution witness, Mashelia Arhyel Bata, a compliance officer with Zenith Bank.

Bello is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu on a 16-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and money laundering to the tune of ₦110.4 billion.

NCoS confirms death of two awaiting trial inmates in A’Ibom

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Akwa Ibom State Command, has confirmed the death of two awaiting-trial inmates at the Uyo Custodial Centre following an electrical surge caused by a faulty transformer that supplies power to the facility.

The incident, which occurred about two weeks ago, was triggered by an explosion from a nearby transformer. The blast caused a high-voltage wire to snap and fall within the correctional centre premises, resulting in a total blackout and extensive damage to equipment.
