The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has further intensified ongoing operations aimed at the swift rescue of victims abducted during the recent pirate attack along the Calabar-Oron waterways and the immediate arrest of all perpetrators behind the act.

In close synergy with the Cross River State Police Command and the Nigerian Navy, the Command has deployed a formidable combination of marine, tactical, and intelligence assets to dominate the waterways and adjoining creeks, with a view to tracking down the criminals and securing the safe release of the victims.

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Mohammed Abdullahi Korimi before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri over an alleged N25.6 million fraud.

Korimi was arraigned on Thursday, 16 April 2026, on two counts bordering on criminal misappropriation and obtaining by false pretence, involving N25,647,000.
