The Acting Amayanabo of Okpoama Kingdom in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, High Chief Nathan Egba-Dienegha, has called on all levels of government to prioritise the development of the blue economy across the Niger Delta.
He urged the Federal, state and local governments to collaborate with development organisations to unlock the region’s multi-billion-naira blue economy potential and create sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities.
The Bayelsa State Government is to arraign the prime suspect in the 2025 abduction of Bayelsa State High Court Judge, Justice E.G. Omukoro, before a State High Court in Yenagoa.

The Bayelsa State Government says it is repositioning the state’s economy as a preferred destination for investors and tourists through sustained economic diversification.

Tragedy struck on Friday when an 18-seater bus conveying passengers to the burial of the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor was involved in a fatal crash along the Toru-Orua axis of the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road.
Eyewitnesses initially claimed that many lives were lost in the accident, while several others sustained injuries and were rushed to hospitals for treatment.
However, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefs Brisibe, who confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation with our correspondent, said only two victims died at the scene.
