Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two suspected arms suppliers and recovered a locally made revolver pistol in Ikot Ekpene as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and curb illegal arms proliferation in the state.
The suspects, identified as Udeme Udo, 52, and Nkereuwem Udo, 40, were arrested on 8 May 2026 at about 4:25 am following credible intelligence.

On 27 April 2026, acting swiftly on credible intelligence from correctional authorities about suspicious items found around the custodial centre, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, ordered the deployment of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, BomPol Base 38, Uyo, along with other tactical teams to secure the area.
