A newly donated boxing ring is set to transform training and competition in Akwa Ibom State, replacing an ageing facility that had been in use for nearly two decades.

The Commissioner for Sports, Paul Bassey, said the old ring had required constant repairs, with carpenters frequently engaged to fix worn-out sections ahead of events. In contrast, the new governor-provided ring offers a more durable and comfortable alternative, suitable not only for boxing but also for other martial arts disciplines.
