The Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, admitted a petition written to the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, against a Facebook user, Princess God’sown Udoito, over alleged defamatory publications against the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.

The document was tendered by the prosecution from the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Justice, led by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Friday Itim, Esq., during the continuation of evidence by the first prosecution witness (PW1), Ememobong Nicholas, Esq.

Man killed in suspected cult clash in Yenagoa

A suspected rivalry between two cult groups has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in the Igbogene community of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The deceased, identified simply as Ebi, popularly known as “Npotor,” was said to be from the Amassoma community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

Sources within the community alleged that the killing was linked to an ongoing supremacy battle between two rival cult groups known as the Bobos and the Greenlanders.

Akwa Ibom dismisses reports of 76 oil wells cession

The Akwa Ibom State Government has dismissed media reports suggesting that its 76 oil wells have been ceded to Cross River State.

The government maintained that the draft report by a Federal Government Inter-Agency Committee to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) does not amount to a reallocation of oil wells.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom (SAN), alongside Paul Usoro (SAN), the Commissioner for Information, Mr Aniekan Umanah, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh, stated during a joint media briefing on Monday in Uyo that the two Supreme Court rulings of June 24, 2005, and July 10, 2012, which decided decisively in favour of Akwa Ibom and affirmed the 76 oil wells to the state, remain valid.

DELSU matriculates 9,498 students for 2025/2026 academic session

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has matriculated 9,498 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The matriculation oath was administered to the freshers on Saturday in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of DELSU, Prof. Samuel Asagba, said the students were among tens of thousands of candidates who applied for admission into the university.
