Man killed in suspected cult clash in Yenagoa

A suspected rivalry between two cult groups has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in the Igbogene community of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The deceased, identified simply as Ebi, popularly known as “Npotor,” was said to be from the Amassoma community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

Sources within the community alleged that the killing was linked to an ongoing supremacy battle between two rival cult groups known as the Bobos and the Greenlanders.

Police detain suspect in alleged armed robbery, homicide in Etim Ekpo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the investigation of an alleged armed robbery and homicide involving the disappearance and killing of a commercial motorcyclist in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.

The command recalled that on or about November 11, 2025, at about 11:00 am, it received a report that an unidentified commercial motorcyclist was attacked at Ikot Esop Village, dispossessed of his motorcycle, and subsequently went missing. Following the report, a comprehensive investigation was launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

After several months of sustained intelligence gathering and investigation, operatives of the command on Friday, February 6, 2026, around 12:00 noon, arrested one Emmanuel Silas (male) in connection with the alleged offence.
