Police detain suspect in alleged armed robbery, homicide in Etim Ekpo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the investigation of an alleged armed robbery and homicide involving the disappearance and killing of a commercial motorcyclist in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.

The command recalled that on or about November 11, 2025, at about 11:00 am, it received a report that an unidentified commercial motorcyclist was attacked at Ikot Esop Village, dispossessed of his motorcycle, and subsequently went missing. Following the report, a comprehensive investigation was launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

After several months of sustained intelligence gathering and investigation, operatives of the command on Friday, February 6, 2026, around 12:00 noon, arrested one Emmanuel Silas (male) in connection with the alleged offence.

Uyo robbery: Police nab suspect linked to ₦4.2m ATM fraud

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in the investigation of an armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and alleged juju-related case reported in the Uyo metropolis.

According to the command, the incident was reported through a petition dated November 20, 2025. The complainant stated that on November 19, 2025, while waiting along Uruan Street, Uyo, to board a commercial vehicle, a saloon car stopped and offered her a ride. Unbeknownst to her, the occupants were members of a criminal syndicate.

After driving for some distance, the suspects diverted from the intended route, produced a firearm and forcefully robbed the victim of her Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card. She was compelled at gunpoint to reveal her Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Police bust fraud syndicate, rescue elderly victim in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismantled a suspected fraud syndicate operating within Uyo metropolis and its environs, arresting three suspects and rescuing an elderly victim.

According to the command, the operation was carried out on Monday, February 3, 2026, around 3:30 pm., following credible intelligence received from a concerned and public-spirited individual.

The intelligence revealed the activities of a group of fraudsters, locally known as “Utotoh,” who allegedly specialised in deceiving unsuspecting members of the public.

The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over alleged mutilation of the Naira.

Inuwa was arrested on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the circulation of a viral video on social media in which she was allegedly seen using Naira notes to clean mucus from her nose.

Confirming the arrest, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said the Commission acted after the video sparked public outrage online.
