Bundesliga side Hamburger SV has confirmed that injured Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka will be sidelined for the coming weeks, without specifying the period.
Daka suffered a knock when Zambia lost 3-1 to Algeria in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier away in North Africa.
The striker missed Zambia’s 2-0 home win over Togo in Ndola on day two of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
“Patson Daka has returned from the Zambian national team with an injury,” Hamburg stated.
“Detailed MRI scans conducted at the Athleticum at Volkspark have now revealed the precise diagnosis: the Zambian has suffered a torn muscle fibre in his left thigh and will be sidelined for the coming weeks.”
Daka completed a free transfer from Leicester City to Hamburger SV late last month on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.
He marked his debut with a goal in a test match.
The 27-year-old is yet to score in the Bundesliga.
