Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen opened his pre-season account with a brilliant headed goal as Galatasaray battled to an entertaining 3-3 draw against French side Rennes in a friendly on Monday.

The Super Eagles star produced a commanding display, leading the attack with energy and confidence before powering home a superb header to mark his first goal of the club’s pre-season campaign. His performance will be a major boost for the Turkish champions as they continue preparations for the new season.

Also in action for Galatasaray was Lesley Ugochukwu, who is widely expected to pledge his international future to Nigeria. The midfielder made another appearance as he continues to settle into the squad ahead of the new campaign.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s future remains a major talking point in the transfer market. The prolific forward has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, while Atletico Madrid have also made contact with the striker’s representatives over a potential transfer.

Tottenham’s manager is reportedly keen to convince Osimhen to become part of the club’s long-term project, but Galatasaray are only prepared to consider offers that meet their valuation of the Nigerian star.

Osimhen is also said to be unwilling to compromise on his salary expectations, with any interested club expected to meet his full wage demands before a deal can be agreed.

Despite the growing transfer speculation, the Super Eagles star remains focused on Galatasaray’s pre-season preparations as he gears up for the 2026/27 campaign. However, with the transfer window still open, his future could yet take another twist.
